Hello!

I'm Lucy Harris

DipION, mBANT, CNHC

a British Association of Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) Registered Nutritionist, Registered Nutritional Therapist and qualified Health Coach working with clients online and in Cornwall.

My journey into nutritional therapy has been a personal one...

Nutritionist, Lucy celebrating reaching the top of Rainbow Mountain

I'd always LOVED food but following an irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) diagnosis in my early 30's my diet became increasingly restricted and I constantly felt 6 months pregnant after eating.

With my chronic digestive issues growing progressively worse and the onset of debilitating brain fog, hormonal imbalances and a fear of food I started to google, unwilling to accept restrictive diets and drugs were my destiny. My corporate role at the time involved root cause analysis and I guess I was applying the same to my health to discover why I'd developed IBS.

This is when I discovered Functional Medicine and visited a registered Nutritional Therapist in London where we began the journey to discovering the true causes of my health issues and I discovered how my symptoms were connected to more than just food.

The knowledge she shared blew my mind and it wasn't long before I'd enrolled with the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition on their flagship Nutritional Therapy course so I could help others. I studied for three years and continue to enhance and build on this learning through continued professional development (CPD) to ensure I stay up to date with all the latest research in this ever changing field.

The reason I share my story is because I've been where you are, which is why I feel so passionately about helping you regain control of your health and make sustainable changes so you can start thriving rather than surviving.

It wasn't until I began studying nutritional therapy that I realised nutrition for gut health is so much more than what you eat.  For me spending time in nature has been a key factor in my journey towards health and happiness.

I have struggled greatly with my digestive health for over 13 years and it impacted my mental wellbeing greatly. I had daily pain, bloating and general discomfort.

Since working with Lucy I have been able to better understand my gut health, the triggers and how to improve my (what I had previously thought of as healthy) diet.

I have really appreciated feeling listened to and cared for by Lucy, from past experiences of NHS help who are sadly unable to give the time and support needed to tackle something as detailed and as personal as gut health, its been so helpful to have one to one time and be able to be 'gut health detectives' in a way.

I now feel like I have a future where I am not restricted by my pain, I can enjoy food again and embrace my freelance work schedule with more control. I feel and look healthier and cannot wait to carry on this protocol with some regular check ins with Lucy to stay on track.

I would encourage anyone who has been told 'it's just IBS' or 'you need to eat better' to explore a path with Lucy, it is so much more complex than cutting out a food group, it is a journey. It is hard work but so so worth it.

I recommend Lucy wholeheartedly. I decided to book in with Lucy as I have an inherited condition and even though I have had it for years I'd never really looked into managing it. Therefore I would have bouts of tiredness, dizziness and lack of energy and didn’t know how to overcome it. Lucy helped me to understand which foods would support my liver health and general well-being to improve my energy levels. She was extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I followed Lucy’s food plan and I was delighted with my recent blood test results. Thank you so much Lucy.

Thank you so much for the consultation the other day, it left me feeling so excited and positive.

Lucy is patient, knowledgeable and encouraging!

Holy Moley! Where to start? More energy, less anxiety, regular bowels, weight loss. I feel the best I’ve felt in YEARS!

Thank you for helping me get control over my health and understanding the different effects food have on me.

Lucy is a very personable person and easy to talk things through with. I found Lucy’s approach flexible, creative and individual, which I like. In the time working with Lucy I got less stressed and began doing things I knew I really wanted to get back into, which really helped. It made me look at what I was doing ahead of each appointment, which gave me motivation.

I would recommend Lucy, as it helps to talk though everything and sometimes that’s enough to get you started. It also helps to have check-ups or someone who is following your progress. Plus there are health tests, which are not available on the NHS. There is a lot of information out there around nutritional therapy, some confusing, and a good bit of detective work is required to help unravel issues yourself. Lucy is good at researching.

Working with Lucy has been such a positive and useful experience. It has provided me with opportunities to scrutinise and discuss my health and general wellbeing and has challenged me to focus on finding ways to make changes in my life. I have noticed small but significant improvements in my health. I often feel virtually pain-free, have more energy and a better attitude towards my health and diet.

I have valued our conversations, Lucy’s wealth of nutrition knowledge and health tips and her generosity of time and patience.

I am feeling optimistic about my health going forward and empowered to make positive changes for my future. I am still hopeful that I can avoid surgery and be the healthiest version of myself!

Lucy has an excellent knowledge of nutrition and general health issues. She has a quiet, patient approach with incredible attention to detail. She is so generous with her time and brilliant at attending to your personal needs.

You recommended a course of supplements which resolved my health issue within the first month and has not recurred since. I valued the ability to contact you at any time with any issues I was having, this was most important to me. I am content that for my age I am as healthy as I can expect to be. I would recommend you to other people for your obvious knowledge of the issue presented to you, your pleasant and reassuring consultation style and above all your success in treating my condition.

If you'd like to know more about nutritional therapy and how I can help you manage your symptoms by understanding their root cause, please book a discovery call so we can have a chat
